Ridgewater Basketball Update

The Ridgewater Men and Women's basketball teams traveled to Rochester Community and Technical College on Wednesday and then hosted Minnesota State Fergus Falls on Saturday.

 

Wednesday the Warrior Men and Women traveled to Rochester Community and Technical College. The Ridgewater Women's basketball team played first and fell by a score 70-42. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and never looked back. Julia Hines led the Warriors with 15 points while Kaydence Bertram and Ellaina Bergstrom each added 10 points. Kaydence had a team high with 9 rebounds and 4 steals while Lily Dean led the Warriors with 4 assists.

Shortly after the Women's game, the Men tipped off. The Yellow Jackets beat the Warriors by a score of 90-79. RCTC held a 48-37 lead at the half, and it proved to be too much to overcome for the Warriors. DeAndre Holloway led the Warriors with 27 Points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Tyrese Mayo chipped in 21 points while Michael Henderson led the team with 4 assists and 3 steals.

 

Saturday the Warriors played host to Minnesota State Fergus Falls. The Ridgewater Women's basketball team started things off with a 77-51 win over the Spartans. The Warriors led 17 to 14 at the end of the first quarter and held on at the half to lead 35-27. The Warriors outscored the Spartans 42-24 in the second half to secure the victory. Five Warriors scored double figures, Julia Hines, Kaydence Bertram, Ellaina Bergstrom and Lily Dean all had 14 points while Grace Jackson had 13 and Shakira Olson finished with 8. Lily Dean led the team with 9 assists and Shakira Olson led the team with 9 rebounds including 8 offensive rebounds.

 

The Ridgewater Men's team fell 101-80 to the Spartans. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead, but the Warriors fought back and found themselves down 47-44 at the half. The Spartans outscored the Warriors 54-36 in the second half to secure the victory. DeAndre Holloway had a big night with a double-double scoring 25 points and having 20 rebounds. Miguel Maloney added 23 points for the Warriors while Tyrese Mayo had 12. Keagen Shrider led the team with 6 assists.

 

The Ridgewater Women's basketball team has one regular season game coming up on Saturday In Worthington. The Warriors are 3-18 overall with a 2-7 conference record. The Warriors are currently a 5th seed in the MCAC South.

The Ridgewater Men's basketball team will get back in action tomorrow at Home against Riverland Community College. On Saturday the Men will also play their last regular season game on the road in Worthington. The Warriors are 13-9 overall with a 5-5 conference record. The Warriors are currently tied for 3rd in the MCAC South.
