Weekly Sports Update

We had a big week for Ridgewater Athletics. Our Men's and Women's Basketball team traveled to Minnesota State Community and Technical College on Janurary 22nd. The men's team then traveled to Riverland Community College on January 25th. Our Warrior Wrestling team also hosted the MCAC Championships this past Sunday, January 26th. 

Our women's team found some success on the road as they improved their record to 1-3 in the conference. Julia Hines lead the Warrior offense with 16 points on 50% shooting. Three other Warriors helped by adding double digit figures. Nevaeh Rahm added 15 points, Ellaina Bergstrom added 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Lily Dean contributed 10 points and 7 assists. The Warriors won by a score of 59-55. 

The Men's team falls to 2-4 in the conference after the two tough roadtrips. They fell to Minnesota State Community and Technial College ranked #10 in the nation by a close score of 93-103 despite having 6 players score in double digits. The second matchup was against an undefeated Riverland team who is ranked #1 in the Nation. The Warriors lost by a score of 73-92. Throughout the two games DeAndre Holloway led his team with 31 points and 26 Rebounds. Tyrese Mayo also contributed 30 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds. 

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday January 29th at Home against Minnesota West.

The wrestling team hosted 6 teams on Sunday the 26th for the MCAC Wrestling Team Duals. The six teams included: Bismarck State College, Minnesota North College- Itasca, Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Northland Community and Technical College, and ROchester Community and Technical College. Rochester ended up claimin the MCAC dual title after going 5-0. Our Warriors tied for 4th place with a 2-3 record. Tegan Sherk led his team with a 5-0 record on the day. Tucker Hugg followed with a record of 4-1 on the day. Kyler Sherk, James Morgan, Cody Brott, and Seth Meyer all finish with a 2-3 record on the day. 

Tegan Sherk currently ranks 2nd nationally in the 133 weight class! Tucker Hugg currently ranks 9th in the nation for the HWT class!
